Chicago Cubs: The worst Baseball Franchise EVER
Posted on 17 November 2009 by Wanna Be Sports Guy
No explanation for the Cubs’ history of failure has been more appealing than the curse. Fans have blamed the team’s poor performance on the infamous billy goat since 1945. In that year, Billy Sianis supposedly cursed the Cubs because he was asked to leave Wrigley Field with his goat, during game 4 of the World Series. Since then, the Cubs have earned a reputation as “lovable losers”. The last time they won the World Series was in 1908, and for many years they were the worst team in the National League. It has even been suggested that Cubs players take the curse with them if the leave the cubs and go to play for other teams. According to Ron Berler, any team that has three or more former Cubs on its roster is destined to lose the World Series. This has been true in all but three World Series since 1946 (the exceptions were 1960, 2001 and 2008). In an effort to remove the curse, goats have been allowed into Wrigley Field, they have been butchered and hung on the Harry Carray statue out front, the Bartman ball was blown up, and the dugout has been exorcised by a priest. Of course, none of these supernatural cures has helped the Cubs win a World Series.
As winning and losing goes in professional sports, the Chicago Cubs are the worst franchise in the history of sports! The Before the “curse”, the Cubs were a celebrated team. They were the first team to win back to back championships! That was in 1908!!!! The Cubs were the best in the business!
The Cubs are starting their 2nd consecutive century of losing! How is this even possible? One would think that luck would have brought at least one championship to the North Side of Chicago!
Cubs fans have become so accustomed to losing that they still fill Wrigley Field year after year, knowing deep inside that their heroes of summer are merely going through the motions, fulfilling their role as a Cub to continue the legacy of losing! That’s what Cub fans do.
Is there no end to this madness? It’s not as if the Cubs didn’t have great players or even great teams over the years! They have! This team is cursed! Maybe it is that stupid Billy Goat! I don’t know, but I do know the Cubs are probably not going to make the postseason next year and if they do (that would be a miracle) they will once again find a way to crush the hearts of Cubs fans.
Cub’s fans are like loving parents, who make excuses for their worthless kid no matter what trouble they cause or how much shame they bring home!
Cub fans have been making excuses for these losers for 100 years and counting! If I were a Cubs fan, I would probably jump off a bridge and save myself the torture and pain of another losing season, even though I DON’T recommend Cubs fans to go that far to the extreme. You have to feel bad for Cubs fans because every year they think their team will make it to the promise land and they don’t, and it’s been like that for past 100 years. When will the madness stop? Maybe never, but I have hope for all you Cubs fans out their, because, if the Detroit Lions can win one game in the NFL, I’m pretty sure the baseball gods will anoint you one day and let the Cubs to win a World Series.

Cubs fans are some of the most respected people in the sports community because of their loyalty. Its been 100 years since they won a World Series and that is a tough pill for any fan to swallow. But I’m tired of hearing about the billy goat curse and the bartman incident…whats their next excuse? I’m so glad I’m a Yankee fan! We have no excuses when we lose! We take it like men and move on! Cubs fans…please do the same!
