Thanksgiving Football: Can we watch another team please?

Posted on 24 November 2009 by Wanna Be Sports Guy

Football on Thanksgiving is a tradition that started in the mid 1930s, and most of the time, the Detroit Lions are on the schedule. Many fans, including yours truly have voiced our frustration about having to watch the dreadful Lions every single year. A few fans can breath easy knowing that at least the Cowboys will be on T.V., but the Lions have been so bad over the last 15 years, fans are tired of watching them fumble, stumble, and fall on the field while they feast on Thanksgiving dinner.

The Thanksgiving Game in Detroit is still very popular and despite their horrible record, it sells out every year. Even though Detroit’s team puts it’s fans through misery every year, they still continue to support them. Detroit fans are very protective of this tradition and if it is taken away, a mini revolt may occur.

Don’t break the 70-year old Thanksgiving day Detroit football game tradition. Keep the Thanksgiving game in Detroit were it belongs.
