While Los Angeles is the epicenter for mega stars and money moguls, only one name will truly bring a smile to your face, Magic Johnson! You don’t even have to add the Johnson after it, just say “Magic”, and everybody around will know who that is. That’s how much Los Angeles love’s him. He’s not only a local icon, he’s a local hero, making kids all around tinsil town want to play just like him. The love for Magic in L.A is a never ending story.

Why does L.A love Magic so much? Because he’s who everybody wants to be like, flashy but humble, wealthy but modest, and happy but grateful, and of course, he has a stunning wife who stays out of the tabloids. Magic came to L.A like a bolt of lightening in 1979 and that brilliant smile he flashed in his first NBA game, hasn’t gone away since.

During Magic’s time in the NBA, he was the primary reason why the “other” stars came out to watch the Lakers. Magic lit up the court and you never knew what he was going to do next. Movie stars and and Hollywood executives modified their schedule so they could watch Magic and his “Showtime” Lakers.

Magic’s life changed when he found out he was HIV positive, but the love for Magic didn’t, as a matter of fact, it grew. Magic is now a successful business man who uses that same style he directed the Lakers to five championships to, to direct his businesses. Despite the rampages Shaq went through in L.A or Kobe’s unconditional love for the Lakers, tensil town still belongs to Magic.
