Golf Superstitions: Pennies, Quarters, and Gold Pieces
Posted on 24 June 2010 by Wanna Be Sports Guy
Paul “Zinger” Azinger always marks his ball with a penny, with the head facing up and Lincoln facing the hole.
Mark Wiebe marks his ball only with coins from the 1960s (because he wants to shoot in the 60s).
Fred Funk flips a coin on the green. If it is tails he uses it to mark his ball normally. If the coin toss is heads, Fred marks his ball with the head facing the hole.
Jerry Kelly only uses dimes to mark his ball. He won’t use a dime dated later than 1969.
Chi Chi Rodriguez uses a quarter to mark his ball on birdie putts, a buffalo nickel for eagle putts, and if other coins aren’t bringing him luck, he uses a gold piece instead.
