Big League Eats: The Best Food in Baseball
Posted on 16 August 2010 by admin
There’s no doubt about it – with the leisurly pace of most baseball games, the onfield action is only half the fun. For most fans in attendance, it’s about having a good time with friends, tossing back a couple beverages, and snapping up some of whatever specialty the stadium is serving up. And while other sports may boast some good grub, it’s safe to say that baseball has the best food in pro sports. Here are a few tasty examples of some spectacular plate performances.
Boog’s Barbecue (Camden Yards – Baltimore, Maryland)
Throughout the various lists of the game’s top stadium food, the name of Boog seems to be ever-present. Check out any of his offerings of pulled pork, beef, or turkey, all slathered with some of the best barbeque sauce you could imagine. Hickory smoked for each game, these various meats are cooked to perfection by their namesake, former big leaguer Boog Powell, and served with sides of coleslaw with baked beans (slow cooked with bacon and brown sugar).
Rose’s Taqueria (Minute Made Park – Houston, Texas)
Another highly rated eatery is Rose’s Taqueria, where patrons can get a delicious steak fajita with grilled bell peppers and onions. All this comes on a fresh flour tortilla. Mmm, mmm.
Any type of sausage (Miller Park – Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
In the land of cheese and beer, the Milwaukee Brewers are known for serving up some of the best brats in the big leagues. Whether you’re in the mood for spicy Italian, Chorizo, Polish, or old fashioned Bratwurst, you can’t go wrong at Miller Park. Hey, it’s the home of the Sausage Races! To serve up anything less than baseball’s best would be a shame.
Grilled Salmon Sandwich (Safeco Field – Seattle, Washington)
It’s a half-pound slab of freshly caught salmon, seasoned and grilled in one of our nation’s best seafood cities. It’s topped with coleslaw and served on an organic role, which should ease your conscience a bit as you chow down. The fish itself is wild caught not farmed – gives it an extra special flavor.
