Hello sports fans, I’m the WannaBeSportsGuy. If you are one of the millions of people you were chosen last when your classmates picked their sports teams, or when people are discussing sports your left out of the conversation, this website is for you. My journey as the WannaBeSportsGuy started at a young age when I was tossed off the basketball court when reading glasses were knocked off my face while attempting to catch a pass. As you can see, I still wear glasses, but this time I wear them with pride. From that point on, I’ve dreamed about playing professional sports, but my chances are slim-to-none and that’s why I’m the WannaBeSportsGuy.

I started the WannaBeSportsGuy in 2009 because a friend of mine was amazed about how much sports knowledge I possess. Since I couldn’t play sports very well, I spent countless hours reading sports books and gathering tons of information that would come in handy just in case I was asked for my opinion, which I never was, so I decided to put all my thoughts on paper and make a website.

If you ask around, many of my friends will tell you that I’m a walking sports encyclopedia. In my website, you will find tons of stories, including some about players swapping wives, how did players get the nicknames that were given to them and what happened in Cleveland during the famous Ten Cent Beer Night.

My love for sports hasn’t changed since that faithful day on the basketball court and now I’m actually having people ask me about sport related issues. I hope you enjoy the site and I look forward to talking to you about our favorite topic, sports.
